You think you really know Portland, right? Maybe not as well as you thought. There is so much more to discover other than the usual touristy spots. What speaks most true to the city are the hidden gems placed in between our neighborhoods. Maybe while exploring the outer city limits you might even discover a hidden landmark you didn’t know was there. Below are just a few that make Portland oh so adorable.
The Wishing Tree
Location: NE Morris St and 7th Ave
One old chestnut tree located in Portland has made a huge impact on the community. The Wishing Tree gives people the unique opportunity to write their wishes down and hang them on the tree. One of the best parts is getting to read strangers’ wishes! Not only is it truly fun and even vulnerable to see what others wrote, it brings together people you would have never known. And of course our fingers are crossed that your wish of “winning a million dollars” comes true! Click here for more info.
Every city seems to have a culture of street art sporadically displayed throughout, and Portland is no different. Take a stroll through downtown and outside neighborhoods searching for your favorites. Whether it’s spray paint on the side of a old building, a traffic stop sign with a social statement, a community mural on the road, or even yarn-bombed statues, it’s true art and ultimately makes this city even more unique.
