The Rose Festival officially launched into high gear over the Memorial Day weekend with the opening of Waterfront Village. If you’ve never been downtown for the Rose Festival before this is where they transform the south end of Tom McCall Waterfront Park into a midway with carnival rides and games for everyone, from the little kiddies to the hardcore adrenaline junkies. New this year to the Waterfront Village is the Barbecue and Brew! It begins tomorrow, June 2nd and runs through Sunday, June 6th. This event will feature lots of BBQ prepared by Portland-area Pit Masters and Grand Champion BBQ cooks, cooking demonstrations, and, of course, lots of cold beer to wash it all down. This event is sanctioned and judged by the Pacific Northwest Barbecue Championship, so you know it’s serious. Don’t forget to bring your ID and lots of wet naps.
