If You Seafood, Drink Wine

February 4th, 2011

Hungry? Got a hankering for some fresh local seafood or good Oregon wine? Portland’s ready for you.

The Portland Seafood and Wine Festival opens today at 2 PM – perfect for a late lunch or for getting an early start on the weekend. We’d never advise you to play hooky at work, but, ah… (Psst!  The first 300 people through the doors get a free commemorative wine glass, and everyone who arrives in the first two hours gets $2 off the admission price.) The festival runs until 9 PM tonight, then runs again Saturday from noon until 9 PM.

If you can’t get there early, your Fred Meyer Rewards card gets you $3 off admission. Regular admission price is $10 for the full day, $8 for seniors or kids. $.50 of every $10 ticket goes directly to the Oregon Chapter of the National MS Society.

Once inside, the world is your oyster. Or clam, shrimp, grilled salmon, pinot noir or chardonnay. Food item prices range from $1 and up. Wine sampling starts at $.50 and prices for menu items varies from $2 to $15.

There’s also gobs of entertainment, from music to puppet shows, and opportunities to check out several of Portland’s great entertainment attractions, from golf to microbrews (yes, beer at a wine festival!). Get full details here… or just head on down to the Oregon Convention Center.
