Walking Tours <3's your health

October 14th, 2011

There are many kinds of tours available. Bus tours, bike tours, limousine tours (for those above my pay grade), and more. So, why walking tours?

Among the many reasons, it’s better for you.

According to the Mayo Clinic, walking 30 minutes (about 1-2 miles) a day can help you:

  • Lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the “bad” cholesterol)
  • Raise high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the “good” cholesterol)
  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Manage your weight
  • Improve your mood
  • Stay strong and fit

In fact, Mayo’s website says:  “Research shows that regular, brisk walking can reduce the risk of heart attack by the same amount as more vigorous exercise, such as jogging.”

So we’ll pass on the running tours. But we’ll keep offering those 1.5-mile walking tours.

To your health!

  • Lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the “bad” cholesterol)

  • Lower your blood pressure
