Welcome writers of the Willamette!

August 3rd, 2012

We all know that Portland is a book-lovers’ town. With all of our great bookstores, coffee shops and of course an excellent library system, we have a lot to be proud of.

This weekend, Portland gets even more literary, with the Willamette Writer’s Conference, August 3-5.

Writers, agents, and publishers from around the country converge on Portland’s Airport Sheraton to showcase their work, learn some more about the craft, get inspired and hopefully sell a few books and movies. (Yes, Hollywood shows up, too, looking for script ideas.)

This year, popular author Monica Drake, author of Clown Girl, delivers the keynote.. Prior years have seen the likes of Portland’s great hometown authors Bob Dugoni and Chuck Palahniuk inspire the ranks to greater literary heights.

If you see folks wandering around town lugging a lot of freshly-printed books – yes, imagine, books actually on paper – now you’ll know why.
