New Culinary Tour Offers Second Helping Of Portland, Features Chocolate, Coffee and Local Cuisine
June 5th, 2008Portland Walking Tours Introduces All New Epicurean Excursion
PORTLAND, Ore. – June 5, 2008 – Fresh off the success of Portland Walking Tours’ original Epicurean Excursion, the company has cooked up a second culinary exploration. Starting at 2 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, the new Epicurean Excursion takes walkers on a three and a half hour, on-foot journey to savor more than 20 new flavors.
If you’ve been on the Transit Mall, you’ve seen endless construction since January 2007. It’s easy to spot the construction for the new Green Line MAX Light Rail, which will start running in September 2009. And when you’re on SW Clay street, you can’t help but notice the construction for the new Hotel Modera.
If you’ve been on our “Best of Portland” or “Epicurean Excursion” tours, then you’ve undoubtably discovered what the reality (and not the buzzword) of sustainability means to a Portlander. On the “Epicurean Excursion,” we venture in the Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center, the first historic building in the U.S. to obtain Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Well, now the the Casey Condominiums in the Pearl District have joined the list of Portland firsts by being certified by the US Green Building Council at the highest ‘Platinum’ level of LEED. That makes that building the first high-rise condominium residence in the country to reach this highest standard of green building.
